Today is a day of celebration! Finally, after months and months, The Failed Technomancer… is live.
I’m working hard on making the ebook, print books, and audiobook available just about everywhere possible. Apple Books, Google Play, and Kobo have been giving me a lot of trouble with regards to uploading, but I finally managed to make it work—at least the websites claim the book was accepted—and now I just need to wait for a review period.
But the ebooks went up on Amazon and Barnes and Noble fairly easily! (Really surprised about B&N, giving how much of a pain setting up an account with them was.) Here are the links:
Amazon (US): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BZ79SWTN
Barnes & Noble (US): https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-failed-technomancer-boo-ludlow/1143263213?ean=2940185644379
Go purchase, read, and enjoy.
But What About Print and Audio?
Still waiting on my audio guy, but as soon as I have the audio files I’ll begin uploading them, too.
As for print, those would have gone up last week if I knew what I was doing. I needed to reach out to my cover artist to request changes to the spine size and conversion from JPG files to PDF… well, at least I know how this should work in the future, and in theory the print copies won’t be delayed on Inner Demon.
Hopefully next week I can provide a full list of links (including universal links, for anyone not in the US), but it depends on whether or not the people (and things) I’m waiting on go through in a timely manner.
Congratulations! How are you feeling about all this?
I didn’t sleep well and might be coming down with something, so I feel like crap physically, but I’m on cloud nine mentally and emotionally. Thanks for asking! After clicking “submit” for the first time I just sat back in my seat and had a minute or two of warm fuzzies floating through me, then used that as drive to start pushing my way through the rest of the upload websites.
Life is quite exciting.
What about your other projects?
I don’t know why this week’s blog post has turned into a Q&A, but your questions are on point right now.
Revisions to Grand Odyssey, the first third of the book, are done! Normally this would mean that I get to move on to finish the first draft, but something more important happened… Or, at least, something that required more immediate attention.
Developmental edits for Inner Demon came in!
I have about a month to apply those edits and send the manuscript back to my editor for round 2, so Grand Odyssey, unfortunately, needs to be set aside again, just for the time being. Mariynne’s adventure will get finished, but I need to keep polishing Gnyphe’s story while the opportunity is here.
Good news is, this puts Inner Demon pretty firmly on my hoped schedule of being available later this year. I had yet to be accurate in my scheduling, but, hey, maybe this time I got it right.
Anything else I should know?
I should be teaching a class on self-publishing at YANCON (Young Adult Novelist Conference) in May. One of the organizers is in my writing group and reached out to me to ask if I could share my experience with the attendees—definitely going to let them know I’m new at all this, but I really hope that I can fire up some young writers to get excited about self-publishing, take their writing and editing into their own hands, and not limit themselves to the approval of industry gatekeepers in traditional publishing.
More details as the situation develops. As someone who has attended YANCON before and enjoyed the experience, I’d recommend it. The conference is hosted at BYU (Provo) and is organized by Masters students.
Any “Bloggyness” on your mind?
I believe I mentioned this last week, but The Stranger Times (CK McDonnell) is a very funny book, and so far the sequel promises to be even funnier. I highly recommend it. The characters are quirky, there are several viewpoints, and the book creates a very interesting adaptation of folklore explored through the lenses of a quirky newspaper (The Stranger Times) that reports on the weird and wonderful. A little more sweary than I like, but the second book fixes this in a very, very amusing manner.
