2023-01-09—Plodding Along

Good morning! I hope that you are doing well on this fine, chilly day. I am, too, all things considered—the baby was sick most of the weekend, but she seems to be largely better today, so that’s a blessing.

On with it!

The Failed Technomancer

Finally, my sample chapters are out! Quickdraws read a different paragraph just a minute or so ago. Everyone else—here’s the link!

Unfortunately, I was missing audio equipment last week and had to order some, so the audiobook has not been begun—yet. That will begin as soon as the missing piece comes in, today or tomorrow. I wasn’t idle, however—I spent a fair amount of time doing voice exercises (have been, I should say), and I spent a lot of time working with my wife to try to get the voices just right.

She thinks all of my child voices sound like an old man… With one of the main characters a child, I hope I can get that right!

Book Progress

I’ve submitted the final, final, final manuscript to my editor for formatting and preparation of the EPUB and PDF documents. Now I’m just waiting on the cover art from my artist. I got some samples over the weekend that look pretty good, but I’m going to hold off on posting anything until I have the final drafts.

I had so much fun with the author bio, though, that I had to share it here:

Boo Ludlow was named after someone who was forced to live in an attic and didn’t kill a young girl. His first name came from that person, anyway. His last name came from his parents. He currently lives in Utah in a city with water that tastes like copper. He lives with his beautiful wife and delightful gremlin baby that won’t stop chewing on everything, including his fingers. He’s fortunate to have several to spare. For now.

Boo has definitely not been eaten by an insane robot that then replaced him. Not that anyone would have noticed—he spends a lot of time hiding in his home office, typing and then deleting most of what he just typed.

I find humorous author bios to be most memorable, so I decided to make mine follow suit.

Other Stuff

Remember a few weeks ago when I mentioned that my interview with Colton Iverson would be posted any day now? Well, last Saturday was any day now! If you’re interested, go ahead and check it out! (He rebranded his YouTube channel to “Narrative Ink,” if you want to look him up sometime.)

Here’s the link.

Conclusion

Thanks for following along! With February drawing closer and closer, I’m feeling some pressure to pull everything together in time, and I’m definitely going to give myself a little more lenient schedule with the next book. That said, things are coming together, and I look forward to having the book in your hands late next month!

Expect some talk about audio next week. Until then, have a good one!
