Hello!
My second child, a beautiful baby girl, was born on 7/11, making her a slurpee baby. At 5:59 in the morning she showed up, all eight pounds and four ounces of her, with deep blues eyes and thick hair that kinda looks black, but knowing her parentage is probably a really dark brown. She was born at home in a water birth.
I love her.
I’m taking paternity time to care for my family. My wife needs some relief as she recovers from giving birth, so it’s my time to be Mr. Mom. Kiddo #1 isn’t very excited about this disruption to routine, but she is already deeply in love with her sister, so I think it will all work out as we figure out our new family balance.
I don’t plan on writing any blog posts for two weeks. Maybe three. If I somehow get a free moment—one that I don’t feel the need to spend on a nap, squeezing in writing time, or reading—I might pen something here.
I will take this time to experiment with posting on X more often. We’ll see how that goes. A warning, I’m more willing to broach topics there that I avoid here, but I sstill try to loop things back into story. Mostly, I just like how X really and truly feels like the one remaining Wild West platform, at least in terms of free speech—meaning freedom of exchange of ideas and thought. I never know who I’m going to run into on a given day; I just know it’s going to be interesting.
Writing Updates
Hazel Halfwhisker, as of the time I’m writing this, has been edited to 148 out of 211 pages, and I’m doing more and more new writing as time goes on, rather than just editing out up old. That’s part of the explanation for why there was a smaller page jump from last week to this, compared to two weeks ago to last week. (The other part of the explanation is becoming a father again.)
I was pretty lucky to get about thirty minutes of editing time today. I can’t guarantee that I’ll get much in the way of editing time any given day for the next few weeks, but I’m going to do my best, and keep in mind my biggest priorities.
(One of them is grunting in her sleep right next to me right now. Despite being asleep, the little punk keeps turning her face away when I shift where I’m sitting so I can see her better. Oh well.)
